A beautiful day at the stunning Barnett Hill wedding venue made for a perfect summer wedding.
As a Guildford-based photographer, it’s always great for me to photograph a Barnett Hill wedding because it’s close to home and because it’s an area of outstanding beauty.
Nestled within this spectacular landscape is the wonderful Barnet Hill wedding venue, a country house hotel in the Queen Anne style. It’s an ideal choice for a reception, with its grand architecture, beautiful views, and 26 acres of gardens.
Gillian and Paul had commissioned me to take photos and video of their wedding, and a couple of weeks before the big event we visited the venue to decide where we would take the couple shots, which really helped make feel relaxed and confident about the wedding photography.
On the big day, I arrived at Barnett Hall wedding venue an hour before the ceremony to photograph Gillian getting ready before capturing the groom expectantly waiting for the big moment! Gillian and Paul have been together for a long time, and so their wedding was very poignant – and particularly exciting for their seven year old daughter. Gillian’s mother walked her down the aisle and their daughter presented them with the rings so the ceremony itself was very touching.
After the vows, we headed out into the sunshine to take group and couple shots in the lovely gardens. One of my favourite photos is where the guests are jumping out from behind a promenade of trees with the bride and groom in front. We had a lot of fun as you can see from the happy atmosphere I captured in the photos. Even the Red Arrows did a fly-by which I managed to photograph even though they flew over very quickly!
Then it was time for the champagne reception and speeches. These were very moving as everyone was so happy that the happy couple were finally tying the knot. They’re a very close-knit family. Paul’s brother was his best man, and he got a big laugh when he said: “Paul, you’re like a brother to me!” during his speech. And as well as laughter, more than a few tears were shed!
After the wedding breakfast, they held the first dance, which was a bit tricky to photograph because of the colourful disco lights, so I used a strong flash to overpower them and I managed to get some bold, romantic photos. I’ve done a couple of wedding photography jobs at Barnett Hill wedding venue int the past but Gillian and Paul’s was certainly one of my favourites.
I edited the photos and provided Gillian & Paul with the download link within a week of the wedding. They were very happy with my service and were kind enough to give me a 5 star review.
