If you’re getting married in Guildford, Artington House will be your venue of choice. It offers two different, beautiful rooms to get married in and a lovely little garden to throw some confetti afterwards. Based in Guildford I’ve photographed countless wedding there and I will never forget the wedding of Annabel and Dan.
I had the pleasure of photographing Annabel and Dan’s engagement shoot, as well as their grand black tie party in London. This project however was the big day itself – their civil ceremony at Artington House in my home town of Guildford.
Getting married at Artington House in Guildford
I began my day just one hour before the ceremony at Ye Olde Ship Inn, a lovely pub opposite Artington House, the home of the Guildford register office. It was a very chilled out atmosphere – Dan was welcoming guests and adjusting his flower pin, before having a cheeky pint to calm his nerves! Dan and I enjoyed a pleasant walk to Artington House with the sun beating down on us, just in time for me to meet up with Annabel.
The bride arrived at Artington House with her parents as everybody sat down inside. We took a few portraits by the window, aided by the gorgeous weather, before getting ready for the all-important wedding ceremony. The couple got married accompanied by just a few guests – only family and some close friends. (The bigger celebrations would be coming up in a few weeks!) Emotions were running high throughout this deeply personal ceremony, and I definitely spotted a few tears during the readings.
Outdoor wedding photography at Artington House
After Annabel and Dan got married at Artington House, we walked across the river Wey towards Guildford city centre. We took the opportunity to make the most of the weather with some riverside shots before arriving at the King’s Head pub. The guests enjoyed a few glasses of champagne whilst chatting amongst each other; meanwhile I snuck off with the newlyweds for a photo shoot at Guildford Castle. Later on we were joined by the wedding party for some group shots – the castle provided a beautiful backdrop for the perfect shot.
My day came to an end as Annabel and Dan headed off to The Olive for dinner. I had to rush up to London to photograph Sarah and Mohammed’s celebrations, so there was never a dull moment!
