Lorraine and Wayne
Engagement Photo Shoot

As you may have seen from my previous posts such as Lucy and Mark’s engagement photo shoot, I’m happy to do more than just the wedding day itself! What makes it extra special is when a couple books me for their wedding day and for the preliminary engagement photo shoot – it provides a great “rehearsal” for the big day and also helps me to get to know the couple a little bit better.

Engagement photo shoot in Greenwich Park

Lorraine and Wayne were a joy to work with. They originally booked me to shoot their wedding day which takes place on 24th June this year, but later on they decided they also wanted professional photographs for the invitations. I think this is a great idea – it gives all your wedding stationery that personal touch and looks great when pinned to the fridge!

As a Surrey based wedding photographer, London is an easy enough commute for me, so we choose the beautiful Greenwich Park as the setting for Lorraine and Wayne’s love story. The photo shoot took place in autumn, so it was lovely to experiment with the colours of the changing leaves, both on location and later on when editing.

Outdoor engagement photography

Of course, being in the great outdoors, we had plenty of backdrops to choose from. We decided to go for some “environmental portraits” – that is, wide shots amongst the natural setting where the main focus is relatively small. This makes for a lovely alternative to close-ups too – there’s something quite fun about focusing on a picture and thinking: “Oh look – that’s us there!”

London’s iconic skyline also lent itself to some wonderful shots, in particular, Canary Wharf – a great contrast amongst the grass and the trees. Greenwich Park itself is a fantastic location for an engagement photo shoot if you’re looking for one – with its long empty roads, ponds and abundant greenery, we had a great time perfecting our shots.

We rounded off the shoot with a lovely image of the pair holding up bunting with their wedding date on it, which makes me look forward to the big day even more! I had a great time working with Lorraine and Wayne and am sure their wedding day will be just as fun.
