Just a few weeks before their wedding I had a Skype video call with Sally and Gary who booked me as their wedding photographer for their lovely Asian wedding ceremony at Nutfield Priory and Spa Hotel. They booked my 2h package (available on weekday weddings only) which covered everything from half an hour before the ceremony until the end of the emotional tea ceremony.
As a wedding photographer I’ve photographed weddings of all faiths and cultures, and it was a joy to meet Sally and Gary’s family, many of whom had flown all the way over from China!
Wedding photography at Nutfield Priory Hotel and Spa
Sally and Gary’s nuptials were to take place on a Monday at the Nutfield Priory Hotel and Spa in Redhill – not too long a commute for me and definitely easier being on a weekday (2h booking)! I arrived 30 minutes prior to the wedding ceremony to photograph the bride and groom welcoming their guests in the hotel lobby. It was very, very hot summer’s day, so we made the most of the natural light coming in from the window to get those essential portrait shots for the wedding album.
Capturing emotions during the wedding ceremony
It was a very moving ceremony indeed – both bride and groom shared a few tears as they shared their vows, and I’m sure a few more family members around the room joined them! The room itself was particularly impressive, with ornate decorations and light fittings that really lent themselves to both colour and black and white wedding photographs.
After the ceremony we moved outdoors to brave the heat with a champagne reception. I spent 20 minutes with the newlyweds making the most of the gardens’ natural backdrops, though we stayed in the shade where possible! As a wedding photographer the wellbeing of my couples comes first! We took some larger group shots with the family before heading back in for the afternoon’s wedding festivities.
Photographing a traditional Chinese tea ceremony
I must confess this wasn’t the first Chinese tea ceremony I’d photographed – I’d done one before at Wing-Hang and Imran’s wedding at the Law Society. This time I knew what to expect, and it was lovely to capture images of Sally and Gary serving tea to their guests and receiving blessings and gifts. As to be expected, there were more tears of joy all round! All I have to do as a wedding photographer is to capture them.
As this was a shorter package, I was able to deliver Sally and Gary’s photos to them just 24 hours after their wedding – perfect for viewing during their honeymoon. If you’re looking for a shorter wedding photography package perhaps at Nutfield Priory and Spa, please get in touch today!
