Wedding Photography at the Royal Berkshire Hotel – Rachel and Mike

I had a very special day at the Royal Berkshire Hotel as the wedding photographer of Rachel and Mike. I met them at their wedding venue about a year before their big day. After they found me online, I pitched my wedding photography ideas to them and they even decided to upgrade to an all-day photo and video package!

Photography at the Royal Berkshire Hotel

I started the day at the beautiful Royal Berkshire Hotel, where the bridal party was getting ready with hair and makeup. Thankfully, Mike’s room was only one floor higher so it was easy for me to go between both! I got some lovely shots of the bridesmaids’ and bride’s dresses, as well as an iconic ‘bridesmaid’ dressing gown shot after all the ladies had had their hair done – shots no wedding photographer should miss out.

By some stroke of luck, Rachel was ready early, which gave us a good amount of time for some bridal portraits. This doesn’t happen often at wedding photography jobs, so it was lovely not to have to rush through it! We took our time getting some lovely staircase shots using a nice soft light from above, with the bridesmaids getting involved later on as well.

Wedding photography at St Mary’s Church

When everybody was ready, I drove to St Mary’s Church in Twyford where I met my assistant, who had already set up the additional video cameras. The church had a very easy-going priest, who was happy to let us roam around freely so long as we didn’t disturb the nuptials. The ceremony went without a hitch, with a loud cheer at the end!

After the essential confetti shot I joined the newlyweds in the back of their classic car as they enjoyed a cheeky sip of champagne. The guests would be heading to the wedding venue in a classic London Routemaster, which is always fun to photograph! I made it to the venue first, just before Rachel and Mike, so this gave us some time for some couple portraits before the wedding party arrived.

Outdoor celebrations at the Royal Berkshire Hotel

Mike’s friends were already off playing football in the Royal Berkshire Hotel grounds as the rest of the guests welcomed the couple with some hugs and well wishes. Everybody enjoyed a relaxing atmosphere in the hotel gardens as drinks and canapés were passed around, so we took some family shots from the balcony while others enjoyed the outdoor games.

I took a few quick snaps of the decorated function room before the newlyweds had their grand entrance. My assistant and I enjoyed a quick break before heading back into the function room for the speeches – plenty of laughs all round!

Sunset wedding photography and celebrations

As I like to do with all my clients, I took Rachel and Mike outside for some sunset wedding photography, before asking their family to join in. Guests had fun in the photo booth before the cake cutting, and they were all treated to a very emotional first dance as sung by the couple’s close friend.

The party went on long into the night and the energy was incredible – lots of opportunities for dancing shots! I took one final shot of the couple outside at nightfall before heading home. I’d had a wonderful day and was ready to edit all the photos and footage! If you’d like to know more about my wedding photography packages – perhaps at the Royal Berkshire Hotel -, contact me today.
