After shooting Evelina and Ben’s engagement in January I was thrilled when their big day came and I could finally photograph their wedding at Stifford Hall Hotel in Essex.
Full day wedding photography at Stifford Hall Hotel
My day started out at the bride’s house. Evelina’s sister was tasked with doing her hair and makeup. I tried a few informal close-ups of the bride, as well as the essential details. Evelina had a very traditional wedding dress with a long hem, so I made sure her shoes got some attention!
Not everything was quite so traditional. Ben actually arrived to pick up his bride in a Rolls Royce, so they’d be walking down the aisle together! Before setting off, they had a quick prayer in Evelina’s living room.
Church ceremony photography
They certainly are a popular couple. The church was full to the brim with family and friends. It was a quiet, deeply personal service with bidding prayers – very moving. The Stifford Hall Hotel was just across the road, so we headed over for some group photos after the service.
The hotel had been decorated beautifully, from the floral centrepieces to the gold ribbons. I had five minutes to capture this before the gang arrived! The meal was full of fun, from prayers and poems to even songs and games. Even the bride got up and had a go.
As the sun set, the celebrations came to an end. Now was time for some one-on-one photographs with the newlyweds. The guests had left by this point, so I took them outside for couple portraits.
Evelina and Ben couldn’t keep their hands off each other, so there were lots of close-together shots! I experimented with a few different black and white shots in post-production. With the sun setting, we also had a beautiful silhouette to play with. They were naturals!
