Couple Photography – When a boy loves a girl

Mandy and Chris have been together since three years now. They got together on Mandy’s birthday so any birthday present from Chris can also be interpreted as an anniversary gift. After three years together Chris wanted to get something special for Mandy: A couple photography session. I do sell gift vouchers (most often for family shoots, baby photography and of course couple photography), which Chris bought two weeks before her birthday.

I shoot a lot of weddings and it has become my style to place couples in really relaxed situations and poses. I personally like wedding photos the most, in which the bride and the groom seem to enjoy themselves in very natural surroundings even though they are dressed up like … well, as if they just got married. A married couple on the beach, on a bench or even waiting for the bus – anything relaxed and fun can look more romantic than any classical pose. These classical posed shots usually don’t tell me anything about the couple as a team or as individuals. I fall in love with photos that tell me a story – imagine a married couple on a tandem cycling of to new adventures…

I treat couple photography in a very similar style. The only difference is that the couple is more mobile and flexible without a long wedding dress or an expensive morning suite. This means I can ask them to climb on trees or jump off walls if they feel like doing so.

The couple photography job for Mandy and Chris was a lot of fun. Both are very photogenic and extremely natural in front of the camera. We did a lot of cuddly shots but to me the most romantic photos are the ones in which they simply look at each other. I asked them to stand in the middle of the road holding hands. I asked Mandy to slightly pull Chris towards her (after I’ve counted to three). We found a lovely deserted bus stop, which worked excellent. To the right you can see six examples for this shoot. We did a lot more shots but Mandy and Chris asked me to not publish more than these ones.

If you’re interested in couple photography (maybe as a gift?) please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
