I have recently done a birthday photography job, which I would like to write about in this blog. Max and Dave have been best mates since early childhood. They lived in the same neighbourhood, went to the same school and even to the same university. In order to throw a party to remember they decided to celebrate together – in style! They hired a stunning venue with a large tent in the backyard to accommodate around one hundred guests.
The first thing the guests saw upon entering the tent was a big ice statue. I was wondering if this had any practical purpose but it was not before after dinner that I was to find out. Close to the bar were the guests were mingling a party photo booth was set up. Around six guests were able to squeeze into the booth at once. There was a basket of accessories ranging from sunglasses and heads to lays and masks. The guests had a lot of fun posing inside as well as enjoying their printouts, which they were given only moments later.
After the dinner the parents of Max and Dave each gave a speech. In order not to disturb the moment I used an extreme zoom lens to photograph the speakers from a distance.
At the opposite end of the tent three casino tables were installed for the guests to enjoy roulette and poker.
The biggest entertainment highlight was probably the party rodeo bull machine, which was set up in an adjacent tent.
Birthday photography jobs mosting consist of taking group portrait pictures. I used a special flash diffuser to omit any hard and ugly shadows from my flash. As one would expect as the evening proceeded and the alcohol level rose the group photos became more and more fun.
Max and Dave as well as their parents seemed to be extremely happy with my birthday photography, which I delivered within just 24h. They commissioned me to design and order photo books on their behalf. I often use SnapFish for my prints.
