Portrait Photographer Surrey
As a professional photographer I’m lucky enough to meet people from all walks of life, but they all have one thing in common. Even the most professionally trained supermodel will need a few words of encouragement from his or her photographer, and for those of us who are less familiar with being in front of a lens, we can take even more convincing.
Throughout my career in portrait photography, I have worked with actors, businessmen and just ordinary men and women who want a professional photography experience for personal use. Without the uplifting atmosphere of a wedding or the luxury of a gorgeous outdoor setting, it can be a real challenge to make people smile, but it’s one I relish as I love to bring out the best in everyone.
I use a modern, technical approach to taking headshots within the studio, taking care to avoid over-dramatic lighting and to achieve the results I need within limited timeframes. With some clients, it can take a few moments to help them overcome their ‘camera shyness’ but I think it’s important to establish a rapport with somebody, whatever their job role, to achieve this. Of course, some take to photography like a duck to water, and it’s so satisfying to have a wide range of tools at my disposal to craft that perfect shot that’s ideal for its purpose.
I have had the pleasure of working in many different studios, from large groups of people for corporate shoots to working one on one with esteemed actors. Whilst it’s very serious business, it’s absolutely essential not to take yourself too seriously as a photographer, as this will only serve to cause tension for you and your client. Portrait photography may be an entirely different experience from wedding photography, but if I can still capture those relaxed smiles, then I know I have done my job well.
