There were just six weeks to go when Beth and Andrew booked me to photograph their big day in Surrey. A great location for wedding photography, Virginia Water is just half an hour’s drive away from me so I was happy to oblige at short notice.

Beth and Andrew booked me for a six-hour package, starting one hour before the ceremony at a flat with Beth’s family and friends. There was a feeling of trepidation in the air as it had been raining all morning, but thankfully, this eased off just before we headed to the ceremony! Beth applied her own makeup and I just had time to photograph hers and the bridesmaids’ dresses before the ladies finished getting ready.
Church wedding photography Virginia Water
With the sun out, I met Andrew in front of the church as he greeted all of his guests. The ceremony was lively and musical with a variety of modern hymns to keep the atmosphere fun and upbeat. Beth and Andrew chose a lovely deep purple theme for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and these colours matched the décor beautifully.
After lunch in the church, Beth and Andrew gave me a little insight into how they first met, when they took me to a nearby lake. This stunning location even had its own waterfall, and the pair told me it was where they had their first date. With a setting as romantic as this, it’s no wonder they ended up getting married! The waterfall made for a wonderful backdrop, so we took a selection of formal couple shots here.
Wedding photography at Barnett Hill, Guildford
Later on we made the 45-minute drive to Barnett Hill in Guildford, which just happens to be one of my favourite venues to photograph. With that in mind, I made sure I took lots of candid pictures and group photographs, making the most of the stunning scenery around us.
After a mixture of close up and wide angle shots of the speeches and dinner, (including some rather quirky table settings!) I took the couple away for some final romantic shots. Barnett Hill has a beautiful staircase which is ideal for wedding shots, and it worked wonderfully for Beth and Andrew. You can really tell how in love they are with these staircase photos.
With a huge selection of photos in beautiful locations both indoors and outdoors, I set about putting Beth and Andrew’s photos into post-production straight away. I also compiled a YouTube video, which you can watch below.
