When Jodie and George asked me photograph their wedding in Reading, I was thrilled to be heading over to The Mill House, which, in my opinion, is the perfect wedding venue.

I knew the couple from before as they’d booked me for a pre-wedding shoot a year earlier. It was lovely to work with them again, this time for an all-day wedding photography package!
Outdoor wedding photography at The Mill House
Wedding photography at The Mill House is great for playing with natural light and all the other elements. I’d have this to look forward to later, but not before I capture the essential “getting ready” shots, including a close-up of the lads and their inevitable booze!
The ceremony outside was simply stunning, from the weather right down to the salmon pink furniture. After the nuptials, we explored the grounds a little and took some group shots before we had some portrait photographs in the field.
Capturing the celebrations
With such a beautiful setting in The Mill House wedding photography comes naturally. The marquee made for the perfect wedding breakfast, with bright whites offsetting the subtler flowers and close-ups of the wedding cake. The crowds laughed as Jodie and George fed each other some pretty generous portions of wedding cake!
I had David as my second photographer with me for most of the day as part of my all-day wedding photography package. This helped get as many angles as possible of those key moments including the first dance and the subsequent moves from the couple’s family and friends. Jodie’s friends threw some very impressive shapes!
Sunset wedding photography
For that one final glimpse of Jodie’s stunning wedding dress, I took the couple outside for a sunset couple shoot. We were up against it as the sun set – even the bouquet was thrown in low light! Still, this did make for a gorgeous end to the evening – Jodie and George walking out with sparklers in the background. This created a great effect shot under the roof too.
Weddings at The Mill House in Reading are always a joy for me to photograph, and it was a pleasure to work with Jodie and George again!
