Never have I had a wedding photography project so intimate as that of Shereen and Thomas, whose Tower Bridge wedding venue seemed almost overwhelming considering their modest guest list!

Shereen and Thomas booked my ceremony package, which gave me two hours to make the most of our location. With Shereen’s extended family living in Hong Kong, the event was attended by just four guests – the bride and groom’s parents. However, that’s not to say that other guests weren’t attending in spirit! The advent of modern technology never fails to amaze me and Shereen’s parents managed to watch the ceremony via a live web stream. I must confess I did not know this was possible, but my clients never cease to amaze me.
As you can imagine, the nuptials were quiet and intimate, but the bride and groom were happy to pose for photographs as well as letting me experiment with my reportage photography. I chose to publish the majority of their photographs in black and white, which would prove helpful to me later on.
Following the ceremony, the five of us travelled to London Bridge in two taxis. I managed to get some wonderfully tasteful shots of the couple on and around London Bridge. The capital city provides a beautiful backdrop for wedding photography with its vast structures in the background, so I made the most of this. At some points we even managed to stop traffic, much to the chagrin of London taxi drivers, but it was worth the trouble!
Tower Bridge Wedding in black and white photography
As ever, we cannot rely on British weather, and the day turned out to be quite a cloudy one, so I chose to publish the majority of Shereen and Thomas’ photographs in black and white. This made for some wonderful contrasting, including Shereen’s hairpiece against her hair, and her white dress against Thomas’ suit, so the weather did not spoil a great day.
I managed to turn this small project around in 48 hours, much to the couple’s delight. It was a pleasure to edit Shereen and Thomas’ photographs with such impressive background images, from The Gherkin to London’s iconic bridges. I always have fun photographing the capital so a Tower Bridge wedding was ideal for me, and I hope the couple’s family enjoyed it as much as I did, wherever they were!
