Wedding Photography at Guildford Castle

Guildford Castle Wedding Photography

My profession comes with a lot of surprises, including some last-minute ones! This was certainly the case during a recent stint of wedding photography at Guildford Castle. I was invited to photograph the wedding of Liam and Vanessa at Artington House in Guildford – a wedding venue I’ve photographed so many times, it’s become one of my favourites!

One hour wedding photography at Guildford Castle

Liam got in touch when he found my website just a couple of days before his wedding. Thankfully, the couple were tying the knot on a Monday so I could accept! We agreed to have a brief one hour wedding photography package which we would break down into smaller sessions for the ceremony at shots at Guildford Castle.

Prior to the ceremony, I managed to get a couple of portrait shots of Vanessa after she had her pre-wedding interview with the registrar. Vanessa looked truly graceful and the natural light complemented her dress perfectly as she stood by the window.

The ceremony itself was intimate but very moving; the pair had hired the smaller of the two rooms in Artington House and invited only their immediate families. Despite the small crowd however, you could certainly feel emotions running high.

As ever, you can never rely on the British weather so we took a few interior shots of the newlyweds and their families. The guests then braved the rain and made their way to a local restaurant the couple had booked, whilst Liam, Vanessa and I drove the short five-minute journey to Guildford Castle.

Thankfully, the rain had started to ease off by the time we arrived at the castle (though not entirely, as you can see from the lovely umbrella shot!) We spent around half an hour exploring the castle ruins and experimented with different poses in a variety of locations. I captured some lovely wide angle shots of the couple from afar, plus some of those integral close-ups, including the rings.

Same day photo processing

Liam and Vanessa were keen to have view their photos straight away, so I made sure I completed the post-production process in the same afternoon. This enabled the couple to scroll through their photos on their phones as they joined their guests in the restaurant! I understand the importance of quick turnaround times and for smaller projects like this, it’s great to be able to deliver them so quickly.

Though fleeting, this opportunity for wedding photography at Guildford Castle was certainly enjoyable. I had a great time getting to know Liam and Vanessa’s families and it was lovely to see how happy they were with the final shots.
