I can totally understand why Tsvetelina and David chose Tyrrells Wood Golf Club as their wedding venue and as their wedding photographer I had an amazing day being in charge of their wedding photography.
Tsveti and David had booked me for an all-day wedding and videography package. We started the day at David’s parents’ house, where the groomsmen were getting ready. Here I conducted a couple of video interviews alongside my usual close-ups of props such as the wedding rings.
Meanwhile, the bride was getting ready in a nearby Holiday Inn. I managed to capture some very tender moments, particularly with her mother fastening her dress. We finished with a quick portrait outside before heading to the church.
Wedding photography in the church
I was under very strict rules from the priest when I arrived. I could only photograph from a distance! My wedding photography is primarily “reportage” style, so this wasn’t too much of a problem. I managed to get a few snaps of David welcoming the guests before Tsveti arrived in a classic car.
The service was stunning – the priest revealed Tsveti’s full name, Tsvetelina, which is Ukrainian. We’d have some lovely traditions to look forward to later! After the essential confetti shot, my assistant and I prepared for the upcoming wedding photography at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club. It was just a short drive, but I’m sure the newlyweds loved riding in the classic car once again!
Wedding photography at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club
We started with some family portrait photography outside the venue, including a huge group shot from above. When we went inside, there were some lovely traditions waiting for us. With Tsveti’s Ukrainian background, the couple had a beautiful floral walkway, whilst the couple’s mothers also fed them with Ukrainian bread.
The after-dinner speeches filled the room with tears and laughter. The sun was soon beginning to set so I “kidnapped” the newlyweds for some sunset wedding photography outside. The greenery at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club made for a gorgeous backdrop, and looked even better in black and white post-production.
More Ukrainian wedding traditions
After the cake-cutting, I experienced a few more Ukrainian traditions, including circle dances! I was feeling pretty dizzy by this point so it was great to have an assistant. The energy didn’t stop flowing long into the night.
As the party wound down, I took Tsveti and David outside for one final wedding portrait in front of the main building at Tyrrells Wood Golf Club. The silhouette came out perfectly and I’m pleased to say they gave me a 5-star review!
