Wedding Photography at Bel & The Dragon Reading – Suzie and Mark

This wedding proves that weddings don’t have to be big to be emotional. I was incredibly happy to capture their wedding as their wedding photographer at Bel & The Dragon in Reading.

After finding me online, Suzie and Mark booked me for a 2-hour wedding photography package. To make the most of this, I started my day around 30 minutes before the reception, ready to capture shots of the guests entering, in my “reportage” style.

The Bel & The Dragon is a lovely, chilled out wedding venue in Reading. The guests were welcomed by a jazz band, with a singer and guitarist entertaining them as they walked in. This was a bar with lots of character – serving up wedding day Pimm’s in style!

Suzie and Mark had a very intimate celebration – just 20 guests. With the Bel & The Dragon located on a canal, the ceremony itself was on a boat! It was a moving ceremony with very personal readings. Perfect for friends and family.

Guests threw the confetti as the newlyweds disembarked, and I got everybody together for a quick group shot before the canapés. It was back into reportage mode as friends and family mingled over drinks, with more jazz music in the background.

Mark was close to tears as he watched his new wife take to the stage. She performed a song and everybody loved it – he couldn’t wait to get up onstage afterward to kiss her!

After all that joviality, I “kidnapped” the newlyweds for a quick portrait wedding photography session. The sun was going down, so I wanted to make the most of the setting. There were beautiful brickwork backdrops, and I had great fun playing with colours on these shots in post-production. You can tell they are just a naturally blissfully happy couple.

When we got back in, the venue staff had turned the room around for evening celebrations. I had just five minutes to capture the table decorations before festivities kicked off once again. With my time almost up, I shot the beautiful colour palette of the table settings and left the guests to enjoy the wedding breakfast.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer for the Bel & The Dragon in Reading, please get in touch today. I’m pleased to say Suzie and Mark gave me a 5-star review, and I’d love to do the same for you!
