Wedding Photography at Farnham Castle – Melissa and Steve

I was really happy when I received the message from Melissa and Steve that they had chosen me as their wedding photographer at Farnham Castle. Farnham Castle is undoubtedly one of my favourite wedding venues to photograph.

As a wedding photographer I met lots of different couples and I’m always interested to hear how they’ve met. One of the more interesting couple meeting stories I’ve heard is that of Melissa and Steve – they met while working on a cruise ship. While Steve was a crew member, Melissa worked in entertainment as a dancer. This gave me high expectations for entertainment at the wedding reception!

Wedding photography at Farnham Castle

My day began at Farnham castle wedding venue with Melissa getting ready in the bridal suite. Steve was in one of the bigger rooms in the main building of Farnham Castle, so we made sure the two did not see each other before hand! Both areas offered great opportunities for wedding photography, so I went back and forth between both sides so as not to miss any key moments. Of course, I also made sure I got some shots of the room decorations and the wedding venue between takes.

Farnham Castle’s ceremony room is large, bright and airy, so it makes it easier for me to get beautiful wedding pictures! It was smiles all round and I enjoyed experimenting with some black and white shots in the editing process afterward.

Confetti shots – a must have for the wedding photo album

Melissa and Steve’s guests were great to work with as they lined up on the stairs for the integral confetti shots. As everybody mingled with drinks and canapés, I started setting up the official couple shots and group photographs, even though I personally like to keep this rather ‘unofficial’. With her dancing background, Melissa knew how to strike a pose! As a wedding photographer this made my life very easy.

The venue has a wonderful vantage point from the gallery surrounding the function room, so I took position here to photograph the wedding speeches. The speeches were very animated (with a few dance moves thrown in!) and there were laughs all round.

Sunset photo shoots

My favourite part of the wedding day came next as we headed to the castle ruins for a sunset photo shoot. While the band was setting up, I took the opportunity to quickly set up my lights and got some stunning shots of the newlyweds in the castle’s archways and balconies. I admit, as a wedding photographer Farnham Castle wedding venue is a joy to shoot at.

Back inside, I got to work photographing perhaps the most anticipated part of the day for the guests – the first wedding dance! With Melissa’s moves, it was nothing short of incredible, like something straight out of a movie. We rounded off the night with some disco dancing before I made my way home to start editing.

I delivered Melissa and Steve’s photographs whilst they were away on their honeymoon, and I’m pleased to say they gave me a great review! If you’re planning your wedding – perhaps at Farnham Castle wedding venue – and you’re looking for a wedding photographer, please get in touch today.
