Wedding Photography at Gildings Barn, Newdigate – Chloe and Eddie

It was way over a year before their wedding that Chloe and Eddie booked me as their wedding photographer for their wedding at the beautiful Gildings Barn in Newdigate. The wedding day had finally come and I couldn’t wait for some summer wedding photography at Gildings Barn.

We can all remember how hot the summer of 2018 was, so it was great for Chloe and Eddie’s heavy outdoor theme! The pair had booked my 6-hour wedding photography package. I arrived about 30 minutes before, ready to take in the sights at Gildings Barn.

It was definitely a very relaxed environment – a simple tent setup behind the barn, with both bride and groom looking chilled out before the ceremony (save for just a few minutes before the ceremony, when the anticipation in Eddie’s eyes was palpable!). Chloe even wore a pair of flat shoes to maintain the informal atmosphere.

It was a real family affair as Eddie’s father gave them the blessing. There was a wonderful vibe as everybody got involved to sing. The band were totally faultless! Following the confetti shot (Eddie’s face is golden here), we took some informal group shots within the barn’s grounds. Nobody wants rain on their wedding day so I kept my eyes open for any gathering clouds.

After a few informal reportage shots of everybody mingling outside, I did my classic wedding photography trick. I “kidnapped” the bride and groom for some quick portraits. We spent 15 minutes in the field playing with various poses. My personal favourite is Eddie and Chloe’s embrace with the wedding party in the background.

Photographing the wedding speeches

Gildings Barn is such a beautiful wedding venue to shoot, so I nipped inside to get some close-ups of the decorations and other props before the wedding breakfast. Everybody welled up at the speeches, particularly when Chloe’s dad mentioned how she overcame health issues as a baby.

Following a classic English afternoon tea, the band were up and it was my cue to leave. We finished with a final silhouette shot under a huge wooden heart. I placed a flash behind them and edited the shot in post-production. I replaced the tent with a dark sky, which gave it a romantic feel.

If you’re considering wedding photography at Gildings Barn, I can’t recommend this venue enough! It’s got a rustic charm that would be great as a wedding venue or simply an engagement shoot for the invitations. Feel free to get in touch today to discuss your wedding photographer package.
