Wedding Photography at the Grasshopper Inn – Emma and Chris

After shooting Emma and Chris’ pre-wedding engagement shoot back in March I was delighted when they booked me as their wedding photographer for their unforgettable wedding at the Grasshopper Inn, Kent.

My day started early with the bridal party at the hairdressers. Emma’s hair looked stunning with fine lace detail, and I left to go and meet the groom as she headed off to get ready in the bridal suite. I met Chris at their wedding venue, the Grasshopper Inn in Kent, where he was greeting guests and enjoying a few drinks at the bar – very relaxed indeed! Emma meanwhile arrived as well to get ready in the bridal suite and doing her own makeup. For me as their wedding photographer this was the perfect opportunity to get some shots of the dress.

Wedding photography at the Grasshopper Inn

Emma entered the amazing wedding ceremony room via the stairs at the back of the wedding venue. This intimate, charming wedding venue provided perfect lighting for my shots, and the pair enjoyed a very moving civil ceremony. We decided to do the majority of the shoot inside – as the inn is situated next to a big road, we had to improvise with the indoor space we were given! I got some colourful shots of the family before getting ready for the wedding breakfast. Chris was lucky enough to have two best men, both of whom gave hilarious speeches. It was a very relaxed afternoon, complete with a cake and cheese buffet.

Sunset wedding photography

Despite the lack of outdoor space, my assistant and I took the wedding couple across the main road for a sunset photo shoot. We managed to capture some wonderful photographs against the sun with the help of my assistant, who held the studio flash. Later on as the party was in full swing, we wanted to capture the lively spirit so we constructed a three of camera flash setup – ideal for creating that party impact at any wedding! We finalised the shoot with a silhouette against the curtain at the back of the room, an image that would look great hanging in the newlyweds’ living room very soon. As a wedding photographer I often do 14h shifts (or more) and this wedding day at the Grasshopper Inn was no exception – but I love every minute of it!

Emma and Chris left me a great review and it was a delight to work with such a lovely couple. If you are thinking of getting married at the Grasshopper Inn and you’re looking for a wedding photographer,  please get in touch!
