Wedding Photography at Potten End Village Hall – Charlotte and Luke

Potten End Village Hall might not seem to be a usual suspect of wedding venues at first sight, but the way Charlotte and Luke turned it into a magical Harry-Potter-themed world was an unforgettable experience for me as a wedding photographer.

Our day started out with Charlotte at her parents’ house. I focused on the details while she got ready, like the wedding dress and even a jewellery board made by the bride herself. There was a great vibe about the room as the bridal party got ready.

Meanwhile, over in boys’ camp, things were pretty cheeky! None of the lads had any trousers on, so as you can imagine, we took some funny photos. When they did finally manage to get dressed, we took a few more group shots outside, plus some reportage photos of the quintessential button pinning.

Back at base, I then hopped into the wedding car with Charlotte and her dad. We made our way over to the church for what would be a very emotional ceremony.

Charlotte and Luke are obviously very popular – there was a full house in the church! It had been decorated beautifully with a vast colour palette of flowers. There was even a band who livened things up after a very moving ceremony.

The sun was shining for the quintessential confetti shot. Afterward, the newlyweds enjoyed a cosy coffee and cake gathering in the church hall function room. What was coming next, however, would be a real thing of beauty…

Celebrations at Potten End Village Hall

To say I was amazed would be an understatement. The couple had left no stone unturned for the decorations at Potten End Village Hall. Everything was Harry Potter-themed, from the flowers right down to the intricate wedding favours – one of the most glorious sights ever!

We ventured outside for some group shots by the pond. From casual walking portraits to more formal standing shots, we got a diverse range for the album. I also asked the bride and groom for some couple shots before the festivities.

Wedding reception and speeches

The couple were grinning from ear to ear during the speeches. They didn’t even let the rain dampen their spirits! Thankfully, I was equipped to take more group photos inside.

Before the evening’s festivities, I just had enough time to “kidnap” Charlotte and Luke for some outdoor shots. The rain had eased off, so I captured some lovely silhouettes in the moonlight.

Next up came the cake cutting – multiple tiers of mini cupcakes, all Harry Potter-themed of course. Then the party really got started! While some guests enjoyed a hog roast, others couldn’t wait to throw some shapes on the dance floor.

We finished off the evening with some sparklers outside and more contrasting shots under lanterns. J.K. Rowling would be proud! I’m very pleased to say the couple gave me a 5-star review.
