I had the special honour to be Annabel and Dan’s wedding photographer three times: their pre-wedding photoshoot, their civil ceremony and their grand black tie wedding celebration at the incredible Skinners’ Hall in central London. Skinners’ Hall is a luxury wedding venue in the heart of London and a dream for every wedding photographer to shoot at.

This blog is about their luxury black tie dinner party at Skinners’ Hall. It was a truly magnificent affair in the heart of London and a pleasure for every wedding photographer!
Wedding photography at Skinners Hall
My day began at Annabel and Dan’s house in south London. As they were already legally married by this point, there were no worries about getting ready together! Later on they were joined by their parents and siblings who were all keen to get involved in the relaxed atmosphere, with plenty of sandwiches and fizz to go around!
We were soon ready and jumped into a convoy of taxis to take us up to their wedding venue, the glorious Skinners Hall. I travelled with the bride and groom to get some authentic snaps of them looking forward to the evening’s festivities as they practised their speeches in the car.
Wedding venue photography
To say we were given star treatment is an understatement! There was a local bike race going on in London on the day, so we were given special permissions by the police, who escorted us to our final destination. We arrived with two hours to spare before the wedding celebrations started – ample time for me to photograph every detail of this 17th century wedding venue.
As the guests began to arrive I took a series of candid shots of people mingling and enjoying the atmosphere. Just before dinner, I took some posed group shots with the help of my assistant, who was holding the studio flash. The room was absolutely huge, so we had to make sure we took pictures from every corner during the speeches so that we could capture every wedding guest!
Cutting the wedding cake
I’ve tried a few wedding cakes in my time, but this one was made of cheese! Of course, this made it a little trickier for Annabel and Dan to cut, but that didn’t dampen their spirits. Later on, the wedding band made sure everybody hit the dance floor, so I set up my standard three-flash system, getting wonderfully lit shots of the dance floor from every angle.
As the evening’s festivities wound down, I took Annabel and Dan to one side for some quick posed, ‘high fashion’ couple portraits. The guests had left by this point so we just enjoyed the moment before the newlyweds got into their taxi.
It was a truly wonderful day at a very classy wedding venue, and a joy to work with Annabel and Dan once again. I’m also pleased to say they gave me a great review!
