Wedding Video Production Savoy Hotel London

A month ago I’ve been commissioned to film a spectacular wedding party at the renowned Savoy Hotel in the heart of London. The brief for this wedding video was to capture the entrance of the bride and groom, exchange of the rings, all speeches, cutting the cake, the Big Band and little interview-type video snippets of the guests.

For wedding video jobs I always use a shoulder rig giving me the flexibility to point and shoot as the celebration unfolds. For the interview type snippets I use a special dynamic microphone, which does an amazing job capturing speech even in the loudest environments. I also use wireless clip on microphones for the speeches and as a backup I connect an external audio recorder to the PA system in order to record the signal of the speech microphone as well.

Wedding video jobs are all about telling the story of the day. I like to divide my wedding videos in to chapters with little ‘fillers’ in between. For example: in between two speeches I’d edit a montage sequences of people enjoying themselves even if the speeches would take place one after the other.

The interview-type snippets always work well in any wedding video. All I have to do is give the guests a microphone and to ask them “would you like to say anything to the wedding couple?” What the guests say is completely unprepared, raw and straight from the heart – and often very beautiful and touching.

I managed to ‘kidnap’ the bride for a little five-minute interview as well. I asked her how she met her husband and how they fell in love. I also asked her what she expects from the future and what her hopes and dreams and maybe even fears are. Her answers were very personal and touching and made a great ending to this wedding video. The groom provided me with 20 seconds additional footage of the hotel which I added to the edit.

I made two edits. The one you can watch here is the short one featuring short snippets of the best moments. The long wedding video is 55 minutes and can be seen upon request.
